Quickstart

In your app’s repo:

npx stresseur init

What it does:

  1. Finds your app: a running dev server, or its dev script (Next.js, Vite, Astro, Remix, Nuxt, SvelteKit, Express, Flask, Django, Rails), started for you and stopped at the end. Flask starts on 5000, or 5001 when AirPlay has 5000. --url, --start "<command>" or --dir <app folder> when it can’t tell.
  2. Opens your app in a fresh browser window. Use it, then click Done in the pill at the bottom right.
  3. Writes the tests to api-tests/. Passwords the recording used go to .env, which it adds to .gitignore first. If git tracks .env, they go to .env.stresseur.local instead. They are never printed. APP_URL in .env is the address the tests call: your API when your front end calls one.
  4. Runs the tests twice. If a step fails, it says why and gives you one prompt for your coding agent.
  5. Offers the CI check, pointed at the app your tests call, and a pull request.
✓ Found "dev" in package.json → localhost:3000 (running)
Opening your app. Click Done in the page when finished.
✓ api-tests/checkout.yamlflow.yaml (6 steps)
✓ Login values saved to .env (STRESSEUR_PASSWORD)
✓ Ran it twice: 6/6 passed
Add the CI check? [Y/n]
Open a pull request? [Y/n]

No app at hand? npx stresseur init --demo runs the same journey on a built-in sample shop: sign in, buy something, click Done. With --yes, --json or no terminal (your coding agent), the shop signs in, browses and checks out by itself. npx stresseur demo serves that shop again on port 4599, so its tests run later.

Run a test again from your app’s folder. flow run reads .env (and .env.stresseur.local):

npx stresseur flow run api-tests/checkout.yamlflow.yaml checkout

With your coding agent

Install the Stresseur skill in your app’s repo:

npx stresseur install-skill # Claude Code, Codex and Cursor
npx stresseur install-skill --agent cursor # one agent only

Then ask your coding agent:

Set up API tests for my app with Stresseur and open a pull request with them.

It runs npx stresseur init, tells you when to use the app and click Done, fixes failing steps, adds the CI workflow and opens the pull request.

Step by step

For control over each step:

npx stresseur record --browser http://localhost:3000 # use the app, then Ctrl-C
npx stresseur generate
npx stresseur init-ci

macOS, Linux or WSL. The Windows build is not published yet.
